Friends, Welcome to the second instalment of my weekly newsletter. I have rebranded the name to “Curious Mondays”, which will include questions and links to interesting content to help pique your interest on one or more topics. Some of the most memorable moments I’ve had while reading, are the few pages or even paragraphs that unlock new learnings, understandings and views of the world. I’m hoping to capture that spark in these newsletters.
While I agree that we need to transition to EVs, or at least to hybrid vehicles, I am concerned that setting deadlines for this transition would lead to an increase in electricity consumption, which in turn could jeopardise our ability to reduce electricity consumption while we transition away from coal-fired electricity generation to renewables. I think we should concentrate on getting more renewable energy generation on line before we place additional pressure on electricity consumption.
I agree completely. Deadlines seem to be politically motivated as interestingly enough, the dates will be when these politicians are no longer in office. Increasing reliable renewable energy sources will be important and a low cost to maintain as well. As I understand, many renewable energy sources have a whole set of risks that are brought with them. Being more pragmatic in renewable energy adoption would serve our energy mix well in the future! Thank you so much for commenting, I sincerely appreciate it.
